Kottawa Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya founded on 1 April 1970 in Kottawa. A Buddhist school in Sri Lanka, provides primary and secondary education.

In April 1, 1970 the School was started with 158 students, no teachers and one building with the contributing of parliament minister M.D.H Jayewardhana. The first principal was Mr. L.D Premarathne.
